Gyeonggi-do to Offer Free Online Training for Licensed Real Estate Agents Starting July

Gyeonggi Province will change the official real estate agents' online training from a paid service (30,000 KRW) to free starting in July.

On the 10th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it decided to make the online training free to improve accessibility to training for official real estate agents and to activate mandatory education participation, thereby creating a safe real estate transaction environment that prevents jeonse fraud.

The official real estate agents' training is conducted every two years, and this year, about 12,000 agents operating or affiliated within the province are the target.

Since 2015, when Gyeonggi Province first implemented free in-person training for official real estate agents as the first local government nationwide, it has now fully transitioned to free online education after 10 years, allowing all official real estate agents in the province to take the entire training course free of charge.

As a result, not only is the participation rate in training expected to increase, but the active role of official real estate agents in establishing a safe real estate transaction culture is also expected to expand.

The online training lasts a total of 6 to 8 hours and consists of essential content for the agents' fieldwork, including real estate brokerage practice (special contracts for commercial buildings, houses, apartments, etc.) and education on preventing real estate transaction accidents (linked to the Gyeonggi Safe Jeonse Project). It plans to enhance practical training effects through legal and practical education to prevent jeonse fraud, case-based lectures, and provision of the latest real estate policy information.

Son Imseong, Director of the Urban Housing Office of Gyeonggi Province, said, "By making the online training free, we will help official real estate agents become more professional, increase the reliability of real estate transactions, and support residents to safely conclude jeonse and monthly rental contracts." He added, "We will continue to pursue policies to establish a fair and transparent real estate transaction order."
