On the 9th (local time), according to Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP), the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism stated, "Due to the deterioration of economic and trade relations between the US and China and the security situation in the United States, we urge Chinese tourists to fully assess the risks of traveling to the US and to travel cautiously."

This warning came immediately after Chinese authorities announced they would impose an additional 50% tariff on all US imports in response to President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariffs.

SCMP reported, "The retaliatory trade actions threaten to break down the normal relations that have been maintained for decades between the world's two largest economies."

Meanwhile, the Chinese Ministry of Education issued Study Abroad Alert No. 1 for 2025, advising students studying abroad to thoroughly assess safety risks in Ohio and to strengthen their awareness of prevention.

The Ministry stated that Ohio recently passed higher education legislation containing negative content related to China, which restricts educational exchange and cooperation between US and Chinese universities.
