Chosun University (President Kim Chunseong) announced on the 9th that students from the Department of History and Culture will participate in the "Dong-gu Humanities Walking Trail" exploration program, taking time to reflect on the significance of the 45th anniversary of the May 18 Democratization Movement.
The "Dong-gu Humanities Walking Trail" is a space created in 2020 by discovering and storytelling the humanities resources of Dong-gu, Gwangju. It consists of four sections: ▲Mudeung-ganeun-gil (Chunseolheon, Jeungsimsa, etc.), ▲Gwangju Spirit Archetype Trail (May 18 Democracy Plaza, Heunghakgwan Site, etc.), ▲Ddeutseum-gil (Poet Moon Byeongran's House, Jawunsa, etc.), and ▲Bright Hope Trail (Dongmyeong Hotel Site, Nongjang Bridge, etc.).
Chosun University first operated this program in partnership with Dong-gu, Gwangju last year. This year, it will be held four times in April and May, with about 68 freshmen from the Department of History and Culture expected to participate. In commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the May 18 Democratization Movement, students will walk the Gwangju Spirit Archetype Trail to reflect on its significance. Next month, a tour is also planned for students from Chosun University Girls’ Middle School.
Kim Chunseong, President of Chosun University, said, "It is meaningful for students to walk and learn about the history and culture of our region firsthand," and added, "We will continue to cooperate with the local community and lead the development of our students."
