"Considering Ways to Achieve National Unity"
Former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum announced on the 9th, "I have decided not to participate in the Democratic Party's presidential primary."
On the same day, Kim said on Facebook, "I have argued that this presidential election should be a turning point for the Democratic Party to become greater, completely end the internal strife, and move toward constitutional amendments and institutional reforms for a new Republic of Korea."
Kim added, "The Constitutional Court's ruling to dismiss President Yoon Seok-yeol is a great victory for the people and the starting point for restoring democratic constitutional order," and stated, "I will continue to work with the people for regime change and the advancement of a new Republic of Korea based on national unity."
Jung Guk-kyo, a close aide of former Prime Minister Kim and former lawmaker, explained, "He will not participate in the Democratic Party's internal primary. Please do not ask about conditions such as open primaries," and added, "Regarding whether to run or not, he is considering ways to realize integration, coexistence, and harmony."
