The selected public projects this time are the '2025 Gyeonggi Province Convergence Tourism Content Development Project' hosted by the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization and the 'Smart Consulting with Big Data' hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization.
The 'Gyeonggi Province Convergence Tourism Content Development Project' aims to discover convergence tourism content linking the historical, cultural, and ecological resources of cities and counties, and to foster them as representative tourism content based on regional specialization in Gyeonggi Province. Selected projects will receive 150 million KRW in provincial funds to cover local tourism content development and operation costs, expert consulting, and promotional marketing.
Based on this, the city plans to operate ecological environment tour programs linking Maehyang-ri Nongsom Island, Maehyang-ri Peace Memorial Hall, and park under the theme "Walking Peace: From Air Force Bombing Range to Migratory Bird Island" by the end of the year, ▲ develop GPS-based experience programs, and ▲ combine regional culture such as traditional food into the content.
The Korea Tourism Organization’s 'Smart Consulting with Big Data' project provides customized consulting based on big data for tourism and development projects operated by basic local governments.
The city plans to secure communication, card, navigation, and social network-related data near Maehyang-ri Peace Memorial Hall and Ecological Park to accurately identify tourist demand and strengthen infrastructure to improve accessibility and convenience, thereby establishing a sustainable tourism ecosystem.
Jung Myung-geun, mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "This selection in the public project will serve as a foundation to discover and foster differentiated tourism content utilizing Maehyang-ri’s historical value and ecological resources," adding, "Based on this project, we will develop Maehyang-ri into an attractive representative local tourist destination."
