Lee Yewon Aims for Second Consecutive Win at iM Financial Open
Park Bokyeom Seeks Second Victory, Park Jiyoung and Park Hyunkyung Among Top Contenders
Lee Ye-won is challenging for back-to-back victories in two tournaments.
From the 10th for four days, the iM Financial Open (total prize money 1 billion KRW), the third event of the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour season, will be held at Golfzon County Seonsan in Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk (par 72, 6,683 yards). This is a newly established tournament this year. Fierce competition is expected among the top domestic players for the inaugural champion title. The winner's prize money is 180 million KRW.
Lee Ye-won won last week’s domestic season opener, the Doosan Construction We’ve Championship held in Busan. It was her seventh career win, her first in 10 months since the Sh Suhyup Bank MBN Ladies Open in June last year, and she received 216 million KRW in prize money. Following her title as the inaugural champion in 2023, this is her second win in this tournament. Lee Ye-won said, "I let go of the desire to win at the Doosan Construction tournament and focused on the process, which led to good results. My current condition is good, so I will trust my play and compete confidently."
Park Bo-gyeom is also aiming to secure her second win of the season. She topped the Blue Canyon Ladies Championship in Thailand last month, the opening event of the 2025 season. Park Bo-gyeom stated, "Before this season, I changed my shot shape from fade to draw, allowing me to control the ball’s trajectory and spin more precisely. The course for this tournament has small greens, making approach shots tricky, so I will focus on attacking the greens from the first round to build good momentum."
Park Ji-young has good memories of winning the 10th Kyochon Ladies Open held on this course last year. She said, "This course requires precise play in every aspect, from tee shots and second shots to short games around the green. Since I have good memories here, I want to maximize that feeling and produce another good result." Other contenders for the title include Park Hyun-kyung, Ma Da-som, Bae So-hyun, Hwang Yu-min, and Bang Shin-sil.
