The Gwangju City Government announced on the 9th that it will be recruiting 830 participants for the second round of the '2025 Gwangju Youth Job-Seeking Allowance Support' program from the 10th to the 30th.

This project aims to support the costs necessary for unemployed youth to seek jobs and to provide various competency-building programs, thereby helping them enter the local community and promoting their self-reliance.

After finalizing the selection of applicants in May, the city will provide the selected job-seeking youth with 500,000 KRW per month for up to six months, totaling a maximum of 3,000,000 KRW starting in June. In addition, to enhance competitiveness in the job market, the city will offer newly organized educational programs such as career planning and job-seeking preparation, competency enhancement, and company exploration.

In particular, to encourage stable employment among youth, those who find a job or successfully start a business during the program will receive a job or start-up success incentive of 500,000 KRW. However, including both the job-seeking allowance and the success incentive, the total support per person cannot exceed 3,000,000 KRW.

Eligible applicants are unemployed youth aged 19 to 39 who have their resident registration address in Gwangju and whose household income is within 150% of the median income, with a willingness to actively seek employment. However, current students, students on leave of absence, and those expecting to graduate are excluded.

Applications must be submitted online via the Gwangju Youth Integrated Platform. The city will evaluate applicants based on household income, period of unemployment, and job-seeking plans before making the final selection.

The results will be individually notified in May via My Page on the Gwangju Youth Integrated Platform or by text message. Final participants must complete the online preliminary training and follow the procedures for issuing a Clean Card, which is required for the payment of the job-seeking allowance.

Since 2018, the city has supported over 7,600 youth through the job-seeking allowance program, with 670 participants in the first round of this year's program.

Kwon Yoonsook, Director of Youth Policy, stated, "We hope that the youth job-seeking allowance will go beyond simply providing financial support and will offer personalized job-seeking assistance that will genuinely help young people find employment."
