10 Million Won and Daily Necessities Donated from Employees' Salary Change Fund
Support Measures Including Loan Repayment Deferral for Policy-Based Inclusive Finance Users in Special Disaster Areas
The Korea Inclusive Finance Agency announced on the 9th that it will donate 10 million won collected from its employees and executives, along with 10,000 masks and other daily necessities, to support relief and recovery efforts for wildfire victims in the Yeongnam region.
This donation fund was voluntarily created as the internal social contribution fund called the "Hope Fund for the Underprivileged," formed by employees and executives donating their monthly salary change.
The donation will be delivered to Habitat for Humanity Korea, an international nonprofit housing welfare organization, through the Community Chest of Korea (Fruit of Love), and will be used to restore the living environment of residents affected by the wildfire.
Additionally, the agency will provide special support such as repayment deferrals and loan interest rate reductions for policy-based inclusive finance users affected by the wildfire.
For self-employed individuals residing in or operating businesses in designated special disaster areas, the loan limits for microfinance startup, operation, and facility improvement funds will be increased by 1.5 times, and the loan interest rate will be lowered by 2.5 percentage points annually to 2.0%. Those currently using microfinance or Sunshine Loan products can also receive repayment deferral support.
Furthermore, those needing policy-based inclusive finance consultation can receive telephone counseling through the Inclusive Finance Call Center or visit the nearest Inclusive Finance Integrated Support Center in the Gyeongbuk or Gyeongnam regions.
Director Lee Jae-yeon stated, "We hope this donation will provide even a small help to the local residents who lost their homes due to the unexpected disaster," and added, "The agency will do its best to support inclusive finance so that the affected residents can overcome difficulties and stand up again."
Meanwhile, since 2019, the agency has been operating the "Hope Fund for the Underprivileged," involving employees and executives, and has been conducting various donation activities every year to support vulnerable groups and disaster-affected residents, including providing quarantine supplies to COVID-19 affected areas, lunchbox support for the Seoul Station shantytown, and fire damage support for Seocheon Special Market.
