Riders' Average Monthly Income Expected to Reach 4.14 Million KRW in 2025
Baemin Connect Riders See 11% Increase After Delivery Fee Integration Reform
On-Site Feedback Reflected in Minimum Fee and Surcharge Improvements
Woowa Brothers, the logistics service provider for Baedal Minjok, announced on the 9th that the average income of Baemin Connect riders increased by 11% after the 'Delivery Fee Integration Reform' introduced last month.
According to Woowa Brothers, in regions where the delivery fee integration reform was initially implemented from the 1st of last month, including Gangwon, Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Jeju, the average income in March for riders who operated more than 40 hours per week was 4 million KRW, showing an improvement of about 13.3% compared to February (3.53 million KRW) before the reform. When annualized, the expected average monthly income in 2025 is reflecting actual delivery conditions such as weather surcharges and promotions, 4.14 million KRW, which is 410,000 KRW (11%) higher than last year's average monthly income of 3.73 million KRW.
This integration reform is characterized by incorporating the voices of on-site riders, including ▲nationwide minimum delivery fee increase ▲strengthening of long-distance surcharges ▲shortening of settlement cycles. Prior to implementing the integration reform policy, Woowa Brothers actively collected on-site feedback from Baemin Connect riders through meetings and surveys for about a year and reflected it in this delivery fee reform policy.
To realize the item with the largest share in the survey, 'increase in minimum delivery fee,' Woowa Brothers raised the minimum guaranteed amount by region, changing it to receive about 10% more compared to the existing system. The second most selected item, 'strengthening of long-distance surcharges,' was also improved so that the longer the rider’s travel distance, the higher the earnings. For example, for a 4 km delivery, riders can receive about 5,900 KRW, which is approximately 12% higher, and for a 5 km delivery, about 6,900 KRW, which is about 14% higher.
The third item selected by riders, 'shortening of settlement cycles,' was changed to a daily basis, enhancing riders’ income stability and economic liquidity. Changing from the previous 'weekly settlement' to 'daily settlement' allows riders to receive their earnings within at least 3 days after completing deliveries, improving economic liquidity and stability.
This integration reform is currently being introduced sequentially by region. A Woowa Brothers official said, "The effect of the delivery fee integration reform, introduced to actively reflect on-site voices, improve the actual income of Baedal Minjok riders, and reduce the social costs involved in delivery, has been proven by actual data," adding, "We will continue to promote policies reflecting on-site opinions so that riders, consumers, and small business owners can all be satisfied."
