The Ministry of Employment and Labor will receive a report and launch an investigation regarding allegations of preferential hiring of the Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung's daughter at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Ministry of Labor on the 8th, a report was filed with the Ministry alleging a violation of the "Act on the Fairness of Hiring Procedures" in connection with the preferential hiring allegations involving Prosecutor General Shim's daughter.
The Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office plans to summon the whistleblower and Prosecutor General Shim's daughter to hear their statements and request submission of documents as part of the investigation.
A Ministry of Labor official stated, "In principle, the identity of the whistleblower cannot be disclosed."
Han Jeong-ae, head of the Democratic Party's "Investigation Team on Hiring Corruption Involving Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung's Children," urged the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division to conduct a swift investigation into the allegations on the same day.
The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) has assigned the case, in which a civic group accused Prosecutor General Shim and Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yeol of abuse of power, bribery, and violation of the Anti-Graft Act related to the preferential hiring allegations of Prosecutor General Shim's daughter, to Investigation Division 3 (Chief Prosecutor Lee Dae-hwan) and is currently investigating.
