Hanwha Life announced on the 8th that it is recruiting participants for the walking campaign “Hamkke Go Walk (Walking Overnight)” to prevent youth suicide.
This campaign was organized jointly with Lifeline Korea and KBS to raise awareness about the seriousness of youth suicide in South Korea and to promote a culture of respect for life. Recruitment will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis through the campaign website until the 27th. A total of 2,500 participants (500 in-person and 2,000 virtual) will be recruited. The participation fee of 25,000 KRW will be fully used for youth suicide prevention projects.
The in-person campaign will be held on May 24 at Gwanggyo Lake Park in Suwon. Broadcaster Jeon Yong-jun will participate as a youth mentor, leading a life respect pledge and encouragement talks. The virtual campaign will take place from May 3 to 25, where participants walk 7.9 km (the suicide rate per 100,000 teenagers) at their preferred locations and send messages of support to youth through social media (SNS) certification.
Alongside this, a youth support program called “Hamkke Cheer Up” will also be conducted. Among the schools listed as preferred visit locations during registration, five schools will be selected, and from June to November, Hanwha Life and Lifeline Korea will visit them directly. They will conduct life respect programs and deliver souvenirs and messages of encouragement.
Hong Jeong-pyo, Vice President of Hanwha Life’s Communications Office, said, “We hope this campaign will help us empathize with the seriousness of youth suicide and share messages of hope. Hanwha Life will support youth so they can dream of a healthy future.”
