Meeting with National Assembly Member Yoon Hojoong
Requests for Support in Petrochemical and Other Sectors
Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, met with Yoon Hojoong, a member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea, on the 8th and requested active parliamentary support to resolve regional issues such as the establishment of an AI Supercluster Hub and assistance in overcoming crises in the petrochemical and steel industries.
Governor Kim emphasized the necessity of successfully promoting the world's largest Solaseado AI Supercluster Hub project, a major agenda for Jeollanam-do, and highlighted that active national support is needed to expedite the expansion of the power grid and other related matters.
He also requested swift designation of the Yeosu area as a preemptive response zone for the petrochemical industry crisis within April and asked for support to lower industrial electricity rates at the Yeosu National Industrial Complex.
Additionally, he sought cooperation for the creation of a clean hydrogen industry belt to establish a hydrogen-based steelmaking foundation in the Yeosu-Gwangyang Bay Area and for subsidies to support the transition to low-carbon manufacturing facilities.
Regarding the integrated relocation of Gwangju’s civilian and military airports, he stressed the need for national support for regional development projects and proposed the revision of the Special Act on the Relocation of Gwangju Military Airport to provide a legal basis for support projects.
Concerning the ‘Honam Mega City Economic Alliance’ business agreement signed last March, he hoped for full attention and support so that Honam can become a leading model for ultra-wide regional cooperation.
