Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, urged Gyeonggi public officials and heads of public institutions to work actively without any gaps even as the election phase begins.
Governor Kim said at the April provincial government open meeting on the 8th afternoon, "Tomorrow, I plan to make a brief departure greeting at the airport regarding the Trump tariff issue response and announce my candidacy," adding, "Since I hold the governor's position, I ask you to work on provincial affairs without any gaps as you have done so far."

He continued, "If necessary decisions need to be made, please actively proceed centered on Deputy Governor Kim Seong-jung," and added, "If there are really important issues that require reporting or consultation with the governor, you have a hotline with Deputy Governor Kim, so please report to him."
Governor Kim also asked the heads of public institutions, "Do not be intimidated or passive at all, but cooperate well with Deputy Governor Kim Seong-jung and the heads of departments and bureaus with conviction, so that things run even better, to the extent that people say the governor is not even needed."
Governor Kim will visit Michigan, home to the three major U.S. automakers GM, Ford, and Stellantis, to conduct 'tariff diplomacy.'
