Daejeon City announced that it will introduce the 'Kkumssi Reusable Cup' at Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark, the home stadium of the Hanwha Eagles, to create an eco-friendly baseball stadium without single-use cups.

Since the Hanwha Eagles' home opening game on the 28th of last month, the city has installed 23 'Kkumssi Reusable Cup' return bins at food and beverage stores inside the stadium to make it more convenient for spectators to return the cups.

Previously, in a pilot project at Hanbat Baseball Stadium in September last year, the city provided about 3,000 reusable cups per game, totaling over 30,000 cups. This year, the plan is to supply about 4,500 cups per game, with a total of approximately 330,000 cups for the entire season.

In particular, the cup designs feature the characters Kkumdori, Kkumsuni, and the Hanwha Eagles mascot Suri, naturally promoting Daejeon's city brand while also making the culture of using reusable cups more familiar to fans.

Currently, six stores including Eagles Brewery are participating in the use of reusable cups. The city plans to gradually expand the number of participating stores and develop the entire ballpark into a nationwide model for eco-friendly stadiums.

At the 2025 KBO League All-Star Game to be held at Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark this July, a new Kkumssi character reusable container will be introduced, and on-site promotions will help spread the culture of using reusable containers nationwide.

Moon Changyong, Director of Environment at Daejeon City, said, "We are actively promoting the reusable cup project to make Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark a leading model for eco-friendly sports culture," adding, "We will continue to cooperate with the Hanwha Eagles club to create an eco-friendly viewing culture that citizens and fans can enjoy together."
