Daedong Launches Full-Scale Ukraine Reconstruction Project... Discusses Future Agricultural Technology Support with Ministry of Agriculture

Promoting Donation of Medium and Large Tractors for Local Agricultural Reconstruction
Proposing Cooperation on Future Agricultural Technologies such as Autonomous Tractors and Agricultural Robots to Address Labor Shortages

Daedong announced on the 8th that it discussed mid- to long-term agricultural cooperation plans for local reconstruction through a video conference with the Minister of Agriculture Policy and Food of Ukraine.

The discussion between both parties, held on the 4th, was attended by Daedong CEO Won Yoo-hyun, Daedong Robotics CEO Yeo Jun-gu, and Han In-gi, head of Daedong CCE Business Division. On the Ukrainian side, Vitalii Koval, Minister of Agriculture Policy and Food, Oksana Osmatsko, Vice Minister, and Mykola Maroz, Director of the Rural Development Agency, participated.

Daedong entered the Ukrainian tractor market last year through a contract with a local distributor. Through this main contract to supply tractors worth 30 billion KRW over three years, Daedong’s tractors have been distributed locally since early this year. The company explained that this discussion would serve as an opportunity to strengthen its position as a reconstruction partner for Ukraine.

First, Daedong decided to donate eight of its 100 to 140 horsepower HX and PX tractors locally. This decision was based on the judgment that agricultural reconstruction and the dissemination of advanced technology are necessary during the progress of the Ukrainian business. The donated tractors will be used as agricultural machinery education equipment at six state-run agricultural universities in Ukraine. The Ukrainian government plans to utilize Daedong tractors to train agricultural machinery specialists and establish technical standards for replacing old agricultural machinery with new models.

Mutual technical cooperation plans for the unmannedization of Ukrainian agriculture were also discussed. Daedong will support future agricultural technologies such as advanced autonomous agricultural machinery and agricultural robots to Ukraine, which is experiencing farmland loss and labor shortages due to the prolonged war, and jointly explore future development directions. Daedong proposed mid- to long-term cooperation including technology transfer, local engineer training, and AI and unmanned equipment technology exchange.

Won Yoo-hyun, CEO of Daedong, said, "This discussion will be an important turning point to maximize the modernization and efficiency of Ukrainian agriculture with Daedong’s advanced technology," adding, "Through cooperation with Ukraine, we hope Daedong can play a significant role in the reconstruction process by practically applying unmanned agricultural machinery and autonomous driving technology."

Vitalii Koval, Minister of Agriculture Policy of Ukraine, said, "Currently, tractors and other agricultural machinery are extremely important in Ukraine, and the demand for unmanned agricultural equipment will increase further," adding, "When I visit Korea in the future, I hope to have more mid- to long-term discussions with Daedong."
