Police Enter Early Presidential Election Mode... Announcement of Selection for Candidate Dedicated Security Teams

Park Hyun-soo, acting commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, stated at a regular press briefing on the 7th, "On the 4th, a 'Notice for the Selection of Dedicated Security Teams for Presidential Candidates' was posted," adding, "The National Police Agency is currently formulating plans related to election security."

The police plan to deploy detectives, riot police, and local officers from frontline police stations to support the field once active election campaigning begins.

Meanwhile, as former President Yoon is staying at his Hannam-dong residence preparing to vacate, the police plan to continue providing security support even after he moves to his private residence.

Although security and guard duties at the private residence are under the jurisdiction of the Security Office, the police have established a policy to mobilize police forces to support security at the private residence upon request from the Security Office, in accordance with the plan.

Additionally, security duties for the office of the 202 Security Unit will continue even after former President Yoon vacates.

Acting Commissioner Park said, "There may be some changes in the working arrangements, but the 202 Security Unit guards both the perimeter of the office and the residence," adding, "Security duties for the office will continue as planned."
