236 Students from Gwangju Vocational High Schools Compete in Regional Skills Competition

Seven Out of Ten Participants Are Vocational High School Students

A total of 236 students from nine vocational high schools in Gwangju have participated in the '2025 Gwangju City Local Skills Competition.' This accounts for approximately 72% of the 324 total participants.

According to the Gwangju Office of Education on the 7th, the competition will be held from this day until the 11th. The event is hosted by Gwangju City and organized by the Gwangju Skills Competition Committee (Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea). The Gwangju Office of Education, Ministry of Employment and Labor, and Human Resources Development Service of Korea are co-sponsors.

The students will compete in 37 trades, including mold making, mechanical design, and barista, at ten competition venues such as Gwangju Technical High School. There are a total of 38 teams.

Certificates, medals, and prize money will be awarded to the top three winners in each trade. Recipients of the Excellence Award and Encouragement Award will also receive certificates and incentive money. The top winners will be granted eligibility to participate in the 2025 National Skills Competition and exemption from the craftsman qualification exam in their respective trades.

Superintendent Lee Jungseon is scheduled to visit Gwangju Technical High School on the 8th to tour the venue and encourage the students. Superintendent Lee stated, "I hope the student competitors can showcase their confidence with the skills they have honed," and added, "We will provide support to help them achieve great results."
