Board of Audit and Inspection Deploys 170 for Special Public Service Discipline Inspection... "Checking Lax Discipline and Passive Work Attitudes" Yonhap News

On the 7th, the Board of Audit and Inspection announced that it has launched a special inspection of public service discipline due to concerns that political and economic uncertainties, public service turmoil, and national instability may continue following the Constitutional Court's ruling on the presidential impeachment trial.

In a press release on the same day, the Board of Audit and Inspection explained, "We have established a phased and systematic inspection plan to minimize public inconvenience and anxiety and to ensure that the public service can faithfully carry out its original duties without disruption, and have begun checking public service discipline."

Accordingly, the special inspection targets include central administrative agencies such as the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Environment, and the National Fire Agency, as well as public institutions like the Korea National Railway and Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority, local governments, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and each military headquarters.

Approximately 170 employees from the Board of Audit and Inspection, including those from the Special Investigation Bureau, are expected to be deployed for this inspection.

The Board of Audit and Inspection stated, "This public service discipline inspection is an activity to establish discipline across the entire public sector, focusing on checking negligence and passive work attitudes," adding, "We plan to concentrate on inspection activities addressing factors of public inconvenience and anxiety that may arise from lax public service discipline."
