The government is establishing a strategy to enhance competitiveness by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with strategic technologies such as bio and nuclear power. It will also introduce digital systems to alleviate public anxiety, including electromagnetic signal lights for data centers and X-ray systems for smishing detection. On the 7th, Yoo Sang-im, Minister of Science and ICT, announced these plans at a monthly briefing held at the Government Complex Sejong.

This month, the government will formulate the 'AI Bio Expansion Strategy' to enhance national competitiveness in the advanced bio sector. It will also promote the establishment of the 'AI+SMR Initiative' to integrate AI technology into next-generation reactors such as Small Modular Reactors (SMR) to improve economic efficiency and safety.

In the AI sector, public consultations will be conducted for the draft enforcement decree of the AI Basic Act and the establishment of guidelines. Follow-up detailed tasks to strengthen AI capabilities, such as the 'World Best Large Language Model (LLM) Project,' will also proceed.

Rapid processing of tasks similar to the special cases approved in the ICT regulatory sandbox will be carried out. Efforts will also be made to nurture AI and software (SW) talent, including projects for cultivating leading AI semiconductor technology experts.

A public-private consultative body for semiconductors and secondary batteries will be launched, and comprehensive quantum plans and cluster master plans will be established.

Additionally, a Future Dialogue to build a high-level public-private cooperation channel for national strategic technologies will be held on the 9th.

The government aims to announce a cross-ministerial technology commercialization vision within this month. It will also finalize participating universities for the science and engineering research living allowance project and begin preparations to establish a basic plan for nurturing and supporting science and technology talent.

The 7th Korea-Japan-China ICT Ministers' Meeting will be held on the 11th. This ministerial meeting among the three countries is the first in seven years.

Furthermore, to alleviate public anxiety, the government will operate an 'Electromagnetic Signal Light' system that measures electromagnetic wave information at data centers and publicly displays it in the form of traffic lights. A pilot operation of the 'X-ray' system, which detects and blocks smishing messages in advance, will also be conducted.

The results of the competition situation evaluation to promote competition in the telecommunications market will be announced at the end of this month. A plan to conduct this year's telecommunications service quality evaluation, focusing on indoor facilities and high-speed railway sections, will also be established.

A 320 billion KRW-scale research and development (R&D) project for low-earth orbit satellite communications to lay the foundation for 6th generation mobile communications (6G) will commence this month.

The 'Global K-Fast Alliance,' a public-private cooperative system to promote the overseas expansion of K-content, will be launched. Institutionalization of regional channel commerce between cable TV and home shopping to expand sales channels for small business owners will also be pursued.
