ITA Airways laid the groundwork for joining Star Alliance earlier this year by becoming part of the Lufthansa Group. ITA Airways plans to add a total of 360 flights to strengthen route cooperation in the European region. In particular, Rome and Milan are currently jointly operated by 16 Star Alliance member airlines, raising expectations for the expansion of the airline network. Once the membership process is completed, Star Alliance will connect 192 countries through 26 airlines and operate 18,000 flights daily.

Theo Panagiotoulias, CEO of Star Alliance, said, "ITA Airways is scheduled to officially join Star Alliance early next year," adding, "Through the addition of ITA Airways, which serves as Italy's gateway, Star Alliance will strengthen its global network and provide travelers with a more optimized travel experience."

The Lufthansa Group is actively supporting ITA Airways to join Star Alliance smoothly. Dieter Brankse, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group, stated, "We are very proud that ITA Airways is about to join Star Alliance as the fifth hub airline of the Lufthansa Group," adding, "The addition of ITA Airways will further enhance the value of Star Alliance."
