Shinhyeop Foundation Provides a Total of 930 Million Won in Support to Wildfire-Affected Areas

The Shinhan Social Contribution Foundation announced on the 7th that it has delivered a total of 890 million KRW in recovery donations to support disaster victims affected by the large-scale wildfires last month in the Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan areas. To ensure swift recovery efforts, on-site relief activities were simultaneously carried out, centered around the Shinhan Dusonmoa Volunteer Group.

The foundation decided on emergency support as the wildfires, rapidly spreading due to strong winds and dry weather, extensively damaged homes and forests, causing many residents to lose their livelihoods.

To help the affected residents quickly return to their daily lives, the foundation conducted a voluntary fundraising campaign targeting Shinhan employees nationwide from the 28th of last month to the 2nd of this month. The funds raised through this campaign will mainly be donated to the National Disaster Relief Association to support the housing stability and living needs of the disaster victims.

The foundation’s on-site response was also prompt. The Dusonmoa Volunteer Groups from the Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk regions were immediately deployed to the wildfire-affected areas, providing 2,500 kimbap rolls to the victims and delivering emergency daily necessities such as masks, bread, and bottled water, supporting goods worth a total of 40 million KRW.

Financial support for wildfire victims is also underway. Practical financial benefits such as extending existing loan maturities, temporary repayment deferrals, overdue debt adjustments, and emergency loans will be provided to alleviate the burdens of local residents facing difficulties due to the sudden disaster.

Kim Yunsik, Chairman of the Shinhan Foundation, stated, “Disasters always come without warning, but solidarity is always prepared,” and added, “Going forward, Shinhan will continue to fulfill its responsibility as a financial cooperative practicing inclusive finance, walking alongside neighbors so that affected residents can quickly recover.”
