Honam University and SilicoFarm Sign MOU for Joint Research on AI and Companion Animals

Honam University and SilicoFarm Sign MOU for Joint Research on AI and Companion Animals

The Department of Companion Animal Industry at Honam University (headed by Lee Moonyoung) announced on the 5th that it had signed an industry-academia cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SilicoPharm Co., Ltd., an AI company in the healthcare sector (co-CEOs Ji Sangho and Kim Taehyung), on the 4th.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Moonyoung, head of the department, Professor Kim Wansu, other department officials, SilicoPharm CEO Kim Taehyung, and key staff members. Through this agreement, both institutions will jointly design educational programs reflecting the field demands of the companion animal industry, and establish a cooperative system that encompasses career development for students and technology-based entrepreneurship.

The areas of detailed cooperation include: ▲joint operation of talent development education programs ▲shared use of research and educational equipment and facilities ▲establishment of a field-oriented industry-academia joint guidance system ▲cooperation in employment linkage and industry-focused internships.

Both institutions plan to cooperate not only in providing internship and project-linked practical education for students of Honam University's Department of Companion Animal Industry, but also in joint research and entrepreneurship in the AI-companion animal convergence field.

Immediately after the agreement was signed, SilicoPharm CEO Kim Taehyung delivered a special lecture on the topic of 'Applicable Artificial Intelligence,' sharing real-world application cases from the industry.

In his lecture, CEO Kim explained ▲cases of AI integration in the life sciences and companion animal industries ▲AI-based entrepreneurship processes ▲data-driven problem-solving strategies ▲the importance of defining problems in AI application.

CEO Kim emphasized, "No matter how advanced AI technology becomes, if problem-setting reflecting the characteristics of each industry does not come first, its effectiveness will inevitably be limited," and added, "Technology is merely a tool; people who can interpret and design are the true core assets."

Professor Kim Wansu of the Department of Companion Animal Industry also stressed, "We will strengthen our cooperation so that students can go beyond simply acquiring AI technology and become convergence-type talents who can be immediately deployed in the field."
