Gyeongsangbuk-do and the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation Content Promotion Agency (hereafter referred to as the Agency) held a kick-off meeting for the production of "Kangchi Island" Season 2 on the 2nd, where they discussed the broadcast schedule for Season 1 and future strategies.

"Kangchi Island" is an animation that depicts the journey of Kangchi, who attend a magic school, as they grow into guardian wizards protecting Dokdo and the sea. It will be produced in a total of 13 episodes, each 11 minutes long.

It is also planned to be used as educational content for marine ecological environment studies. Season 1 began production in December last year and is currently in its final stages.

The production report meeting was attended by Pixel Planet (CEO Choo Kwangho), Gyeongsangbuk-do, officials from the Agency, and animation experts, who discussed the direction of Season 2 production and global marketing strategies.

A representative from Pixel Planet stated, "Through a story that resonates with all generations, we will raise awareness of the importance of Dokdo and nurture the 'Republic of Korea Dokdo, Kangchi' brand as global content."

The Agency is also actively promoting Dokdo-related campaigns alongside the production of "Kangchi Island." In collaboration with Professor Seo Kyungduk, they are producing a documentary featuring Kangchi and Sapsalgae, with narration by producer Na Youngseok, actor Kim Namgil, and comedian Park Narae, which has drawn significant attention.

Lee Jongsu, Director of the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation Content Promotion Agency, said, "This is edutainment content that combines elements of the marine ecological environment with the magic school setting that children love. Through this, we will do our best to help children around the world naturally understand Dokdo and make it a work that attracts attention in the global market."
