On the afternoon of the 4th, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, held a signing ceremony with the Signboard Improvement Residents' Committee in the mayor's office to successfully promote the '2025 Cultural Street Signboard Improvement Project.'
At the signing ceremony, attended by Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, and Seo Tae-hoon, Chairman of the Signboard Improvement Residents' Committee, along with two other officials, they pledged mutual cooperation for the signboard improvement project on the east-west section of Nowon Station Cultural Street and signed an agreement to ensure smooth project implementation.
The signboard improvement project will be carried out on the east-west section of Nowon Station Cultural Street (from Gongdaesaengmaekju to Pungmiyeon, 178m), following the previously implemented north-south section (from Gaeseonmun to Main Signboard, 124m). A total of 75 businesses will participate. Each business will receive up to 3 million KRW in support, which includes ▲replacement of one horizontal three-dimensional LED signboard (two at corner points), ▲facade maintenance of old buildings (such as painting), and ▲removal of unauthorized protruding signboards and illegal advertisements.
The district expects this project to improve the urban landscape and contribute to achieving carbon neutrality through energy savings from LED signboard replacements.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, “A single change in a signboard can transform the atmosphere of an alley and enhance the competitiveness of commercial areas. We will continue to improve the urban environment in ways that residents can feel together.”
