Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province is recruiting farms to participate in the Foreign Seasonal Worker Program for the second half of 2025 to alleviate labor shortages during the busy farming season.
The Foreign Seasonal Worker Program allows farms to employ workers for a minimum of five months and up to eight months, either by signing agreements with overseas local governments to bring in workers or by inviting family members of marriage immigrants residing in Goryeong County.
Farms wishing to participate in the Foreign Seasonal Worker Program for the second half of 2025 can apply at their local town or township office based on their address by the 18th. Participating farms must provide foreign seasonal workers with appropriate housing and pay at least the current minimum monthly wage, as well as comply with all employer obligations.
As of April 1, Goryeong County has brought in 246 foreign seasonal workers (190 for individual farms and 56 for public projects), and plans to introduce an additional 40 workers, including family members of marriage immigrants, within the first half of the year.
County Governor Lee Namcheol said, "By hiring foreign seasonal workers, farms are able to address the shortage of agricultural labor and greatly benefit their agricultural management. We will continue our efforts to support the farms."
