[Yoon Seok-yeol Impeachment] Democratic Party: "A Great People's Victory That Achieved the Revolution of Light"

On the 4th, as the Constitutional Court sentenced former President Yoon Seok-yeol to dismissal, the Democratic Party of Korea stated, "December 3rd was the night we emerged from that harsh darkness and achieved a revolution of light throughout the cold winter, a great victory of the people."

Cho Seung-rae, the chief spokesperson of the Democratic Party, said in a briefing at the party leader's meeting room in the National Assembly main building immediately after the dismissal ruling, "Today is a historic day where we defended the constitution and protected democracy against forces that sought to destroy it."

Cho added, "I am confident that through this process, our democracy will become even stronger," and urged, "Yoon Seok-yeol and the People Power Party should now humbly accept the will of the people and the decision of the Constitutional Court and offer a sincere apology to the public."

He continued, "They must immediately stop inciting conflict and division and no longer be an obstacle to the recovery and growth of the Republic of Korea," emphasizing, "Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo should comply with what the constitution has decided and the procedures prescribed by the constitution and laws and implement them immediately."

Cho concluded, "Now is the time to move forward on the path of recovery and growth. The Democratic Party of Korea will devote all efforts to overcoming the wounds of internal strife and restoring the livelihood of the people," and said, "The party will henceforth humbly and thoroughly heed the will of the people."
