Discussion on Solutions for Addressing Educational Imbalance and School Relocation Due to Population Changes
The Gongju City Council in Chungnam announced on the 4th that it held a legislative forum on the topic of "Relocation of Elementary, Middle, and High Schools within Gongju City" at the main assembly hall of the council on the 3rd.
This forum was organized to improve the educational environment in response to changes in the population structure of Gongju City.
The forum was attended by Chairperson Im Dalhee, who presided over the event, Councilor Lee Beomsu who served as moderator, Mayor Choi Woncheol of Gongju, Director Koo Kinam of the Gongju Office of Education, public officials, and citizens.
Choi Junryeol, Professor Emeritus of Education at Kongju National University, who gave the keynote presentation, pointed out the imbalance in school placement due to population growth in the Gangbuk area and proposed specific and feasible plans for the relocation of elementary, middle, and high schools.
Councilor Lee Beomsu, who served as moderator, stated, "Relocating schools according to changes in Gongju City's population structure is an urgent task that can no longer be postponed," and added, "We will continue to cooperate with stakeholders in education through ongoing discussions."
The Gongju City Council plans to actively gather opinions from citizens and education stakeholders through this forum and strive to establish more balanced and sustainable education policies.
