Focus on Revitalizing the Local Economy and Ensuring Smooth Progress of Key Projects
On the 4th, Gongju City, Chungnam Province announced that it has submitted a supplementary budget proposal for the first time this year, totaling 1.1647 trillion won, to the Gongju City Council.
This supplementary budget marks an increase of 158.2 billion won, or 15.7%, compared to this year's original budget of 1.0065 trillion won. The budget is allocated as 1.0704 trillion won for the general account and 94.3 billion won for the special account.
The city explained that, despite difficult financial conditions, it has secured the maximum available resources to revitalize the local economy and ensure the smooth progress of key pending projects.
Despite delays in the central government's supplementary budget, Gongju City has additionally allocated 3 billion won for the issuance of Gongju Pay to support the recovery of the local economy.
Other community-focused projects in the budget include 500 million won for marriage incentives, 100 million won for children's safety insurance, 70 million won in financial support for express bus service between Yugu and Seoul, and 2.3 billion won for renewable energy convergence support.
Large-scale projects reflected in the budget include 3.3 billion won for the operation of 'Gongju-si Haengboknurim,' which is set to open in June, 8 billion won for the creation of the World Paleolithic Park, 4.2 billion won for the construction of the Second Geumgang Bridge, 2.2 billion won for the creation of the second public parking lot at Sanseong Market, and 1.3 billion won for the renovation of the Citizens' Sports Ground.
Additionally, to strengthen regional competitiveness, the budget includes 3.6 billion won for the creation of the Donghyeon District Smart Creative City, 2 billion won for establishing the Gongju World Heritage Exploration Hub, and 1.5 billion won for the construction of an artificial rock climbing stadium.
Mayor Choi Wonchul stated, "This supplementary budget focuses on delivering tangible results for Gongju City's key projects and improving the quality of life for our citizens. Once the council approves the budget, we will ensure swift execution to maximize its effectiveness."
Meanwhile, the first supplementary budget proposal for Gongju City is scheduled to be finalized on the 18th after review by the Gongju City Council.
