Yongsan-gu Launches Full-Scale 'Daily Care Service' for Family Care Youth and Others

From Housekeeping Assistance to Hospital Accompaniment: Tailored Services for Every Need

Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 4th that it will actively promote the "Daily Care Service Project" to support young and middle-aged adults (ages 19-64) who need care, as well as family care youth (ages 9-39) who care for family members suffering from illnesses or who bear the responsibility of supporting their families financially due to such care.

The "Daily Care Service" consists of basic services and specialized services. The basic service involves care personnel visiting the user's home to provide in-home care, housekeeping, and daily life support services, available for up to 72 hours per month. The specialized service allows users to select up to two services according to their needs, including meal support, hospital accompaniment, and psychological support services.

The service period is six months and is supported through a social service voucher system. Basic services are free for recipients of basic livelihood security and lower-income groups, while specialized services require a co-payment of approximately 14,000 KRW per month (5% of the cost).

Households with an income at or below 160% of the median income are subject to a co-payment of 10-30% depending on the service, and households exceeding 160% of the median income can also apply for the services with full self-payment.

Applications for the service can be made by visiting the local community service center or online (www.bokjiro.go.kr). After assessing the need for care and the absence of a caregiver, the provision of services will be determined.

This project is significant in that it expands the support target beyond the existing care services focused on the elderly, disabled, and children to include young and middle-aged adults. Additionally, by applying differentiated co-payment rates, more residents can access the services.

District Mayor Park Hee-young stated, "We have prepared practical support measures so that young and middle-aged adults and family care youth do not bear the burden of care alone," adding, "We will continue to expand various care policies so that everyone can live with peace of mind."
