'Neusunhan Company' and 'Expansion of Nowon-type Disability-Friendly Hospital Operation' Selected Simultaneously
- 'Neusunhan Company' Chosen for the Second Consecutive Year as a Customized Project for Socially Isolated Youth Reflecting Local Characteristics
Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that two district projects, 'Neusunhan Company' and 'Expansion of Nowon-type Disability-Friendly Hospital Operation,' have been selected for the Seoul Metropolitan Government's '2025 Support Project for Districts Accompanying the Vulnerable.'
The 'Support Project for Districts Accompanying the Vulnerable' is a Seoul city-led initiative aimed at discovering support projects for vulnerable groups tailored to local characteristics and eliminating welfare blind spots.
The district secured project funds of 65 million KRW and 45 million KRW respectively for 'Neusunhan Company' and 'Expansion of Nowon-type Disability-Friendly Hospital Operation.'
Selected for the second consecutive year through a public contest, Neusunhan Company is a program that helps socially isolated and withdrawn youth adapt to social activities through a virtual online company. It includes various activities such as commuting four times a week, weekly and planning meetings, and monthly company dinners, as well as online and offline programs for self-exploration and emotional recovery.
Additionally, it supports 'Neusunhan Work Experience' through individual consulting for those who wish to participate, and this year, a 'Neusunhan Making' course will be newly established to allow participating youth to plan, exhibit, and sell products themselves.
'Neusunhan Company' will operate from April to November this year, starting with participant recruitment in April and May. Any socially isolated and withdrawn youth aged 19 to 39 residing in Seoul can apply, with final selection made through screening.
Another project selected in this year's contest is the 'Expansion of Nowon-type Disability-Friendly Hospital Operation.' Following a pilot operation last year, two disability-friendly hospitals were selected through cooperation between disability organizations and medical institutions, and this year, the plan is to expand the operation to five hospitals.
The district plans to select three additional disability-friendly hospital medical institutions from among approximately 600 local medical institutions through monitoring and preference surveys conducted by disability organizations and persons with disabilities.
Furthermore, various measures will be prepared to support the slow pace of medical treatment for persons with disabilities, including ▲exposure to disability awareness improvement videos during waiting times ▲operation of medical days with sign language interpreters and onsite guides for the visually impaired ▲provision of height-adjustable medical chairs ▲mobile lifts ▲and production of customized health notebooks for persons with developmental disabilities.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “This selection in the public contest is a recognition once again of our efforts to reduce welfare blind spots,” adding, “We will continue to discover and implement policies that can be felt by various vulnerable groups in the community, from youth to persons with disabilities.”
