Professor Bae Eunhee of Chonnam National University Hospital Wins JW Pharmaceutical Academic Award Professor Eunhee Bae, Department of Nephrology, Chonnam National University Hospital.

Chonnam National University Hospital announced on the 3rd that Professor Bae Eunhee of the Department of Nephrology recently received the 29th JW Jungwoo Academic Award at the 69th Annual General Meeting of the Korean Medical Women's Association.


The JW Jungwoo Academic Award is a prestigious academic prize jointly established by the Korean Medical Women's Association and JW Pharmaceutical. It is awarded to one outstanding female doctor in Korea who has achieved remarkable research accomplishments, and comes with a certificate and a prize of 20 million KRW.


Professor Bae has published numerous papers in international journals, including her representative paper, "Relief of Acute Kidney Injury via Local Oxidative Stress Reversal Using Inflammation-Sensing Catalase-Mimicking Nanozymes." She has received various awards such as the Young Investigator Award, Academic Award, and Outstanding Abstract Award at both domestic and international conferences. In 2022, she was recognized as a leading researcher by winning the Seobong Medical Award from Chonnam National University, and her status as a top researcher was reaffirmed with this JW Jungwoo Academic Award.


Professor Bae's research focuses on hypertension, chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury (AKI), hereditary kidney diseases, and rare diseases. She is dedicated to solving medical challenges by integrating clinical and basic research. She has secured funding from programs supporting emerging researchers, outstanding female scientists, and mid-career researchers. Currently, as a joint researcher at the Regional Leading Research Center (RLRC), she is concentrating on research related to kidney disease control and the advancement of dialysis devices.


Additionally, as the academic director of the Gwangju Medical Women's Association, Professor Bae supports the academic growth of local female doctors. She is also actively involved in academic, editorial, publication, publicity, and external cooperation roles in organizations such as the Korean Society of Nephrology, Korean Society of Hypertension, Korean Society of Internal Medicine, Korean Society for the Prevention of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases, Korean Society of Dialysis Vascular Access, and the Electrolyte and Hypertension Research Society. Her contributions to empowering female medical professionals have also been highly recognized.


Professor Bae stated, "Based on the fundamental mission of patient-centered care, I will do my best to contribute to the medical field through both basic and clinical research," and added, "I will continue to pursue research activities in line with the purpose of the JW Jungwoo Academic Award and strive for the advancement of local female doctors."
