Meatbox is showing strong performance. The expectation of increased platform transactions if the import restrictions on U.S. beef are lifted appears to be influencing the stock price.
On the 3rd, at 3:07 PM, Meatbox traded at 13,320 KRW, up 2,090 KRW (18.61%) compared to the previous trading day.
The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) released its annual report on country-specific trade barriers at the end of last month ahead of the announcement on reciprocal tariffs, citing import bans on U.S. beef lasting over 30 months, offset trade regulations in the defense sector, and digital trade barriers as non-tariff barriers.
Kim Hak-jun, a researcher at Kiwoom Securities, introduced, "Meatbox is a B2B platform for meat distribution that directly connects sellers (importers, primary wholesalers) and buyers, simplifying the distribution structure and thereby expanding its market share."
He added, "With 11 years of livestock data, they commercialized a subscription service based on AI for demand and trend forecasting starting in January. Among the 244 registered sellers, about 170 are utilizing this service."
Furthermore, he emphasized, "The buyer retention rate is very high, with a repurchase rate of 83% for customers buying for two consecutive months, indicating a strong customer lock-in effect. Last year, the total transaction volume was 485.7 billion KRW, showing over 10% growth annually."
He explained, "Among the major sellers is Cargill, the world's number one livestock distribution company. Currently, about 40% of the main products sold are imported beef, and about 20% are imported pork."
Researcher Kim analyzed, "If the recent demand to lift the age restrictions in the U.S. is actually accepted, it is expected that transactions of imported meat will be activated, contributing to the platform's growth."
