Sunchang County, Jeonbuk Province announced on the 3rd that it will hold the 'Gugoksundam 100th Birthday Celebration' on the 18th at the Sunchang County Sports Center for the Disabled and the Yangjicheon Pink Moss Path.

The Gugoksundam Longevity Belt Administrative Council, which is hosting this festival, was established in 2003 and has continuously promoted joint projects to enhance the longevity and health of seniors in four regions recognized as Korea's leading longevity areas.

In particular, Sunchang County, which is serving as the chair this year, has prepared an even richer event by linking this festival with the Senior Park Golf and Gateball Tournament held on the same day.

This festival, jointly organized by Sunchang, Gurye, Gokseong, and Damyang counties, will officially begin at 10 a.m. at the Sports Center for the Disabled, where about 500 people, including 95 seniors selected from the four Gugoksundam regions and other guests, will gather to celebrate the 100th Birthday Celebration.

The highlight of the event is a traditional play with the intriguing theme, "The Secret to Longevity Lies Here." This performance cleverly presents the real-life secrets to longevity of local seniors, promising to deliver laughter and inspiration to the audience.

After the performance, participants will move to the Yangjicheon area, colored with pink moss, for a special memory-making session. Programs such as family photo shoots for longevity, which transcend generations, will be available, and the event will be further enriched by the first-ever 'Chamdurup Travel Festival,' offering a feast of spring herbs.

County Governor Choi Youngil said, "I hope this event provides our seniors with many joyful and enjoyable experiences that bring vitality to their lives," adding, "We will continue to cooperate with the Gugoksundam Longevity Belt Administrative Council's various welfare projects to create a better community for our seniors."
