Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the new hydrogen electric vehicle Nexo, capable of driving 700 km with a charging time of about 5 minutes, on the 3rd at the Seoul Mobility Show. Hyundai Motor expressed its determination to solidify its vision as an eco-friendly brand utilizing hydrogen energy by introducing the new hydrogen electric vehicle.

At the media briefing of the '2025 Seoul Mobility Show' held at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, Hyundai Motor globally unveiled the new hydrogen electric vehicle (FCEV) Nexo and the electric vehicle Ioniq 6 for the first time.

Hyundai Motor prepared the largest exhibition space among participating brands at this Seoul Mobility Show, covering 2,600㎡ (approximately 787 pyeong). They revealed the electric concept car Instroid and showcased an eco-friendly lineup including hydrogen electric vehicles, electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, and high-performance N electric vehicles.

Jose Munoz, CEO of Hyundai Motor, stated, "Based on Hyundai Motor's DNA, we will continue to innovate future mobility," adding, "We will lead the electrification era with high-quality products and a customer-centric product lineup."

By unveiling the new Nexo for the first time in the world, Hyundai Motor once again demonstrated that it is a brand leading the hydrogen energy vision beyond just an automobile manufacturer.

Nexo is a completely redesigned model introduced seven years after its initial launch in March 2018. Hyundai Motor incorporated its new design language, 'Art of Steel,' based on the hydrogen electric vehicle concept car 'Inisium' unveiled last October. This approach concretizes a new method that reveals the physical properties of materials as they are through Nexo.

The front daytime running lights (DRL) and rear combination lamps of Nexo feature the 'HTWO Lamp,' shaped after the molecular formula for hydrogen (H2) and the Hyundai Motor Group’s hydrogen business brand 'HTWO' symbol.

The interior applies a soft yet rich padded pattern to convey warmth and comfort, akin to a living space. A driver-centric panoramic curved display and a digital side mirror (DSM) integrated on the side of the crash pad enhance practicality and openness.

Hyundai Motor actively used eco-friendly materials throughout the interior and exterior of Nexo, including for the first time in the brand, recycled plastics from end-of-life vehicles applied to the exterior bumpers and cladding, as well as bio-process leather, bio-polyurethane leather, bio-paint, bio-plastic, recycled PET fabric, and linen fabric.

Nexo also achieved remarkable advancements in power performance. Hyundai Motor applied a 2-stage motor system with two inverters to the new Nexo, raising efficiency to 90% and achieving a maximum motor output of 150 kW. This represents a 1.3 percentage point improvement in system efficiency and a 25% increase in motor output compared to the previous model. During everyday driving, one inverter operates, while at high speeds, both inverters work together to deliver optimal motor output according to driving conditions.

Additionally, it achieves acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. It is expected to drive over 700 km with a short charging time of about 5 minutes.

World Premiere of the Design of Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 6 N Line

On the same day, Hyundai Motor also unveiled the design of the facelifted Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 6 N Line for the first time worldwide.

The Ioniq 6 is a facelift model of the Ioniq 6 launched in September 2022. It inherits Hyundai Motor’s new design type for the electrification era, the 'Electrified Streamliner' concept, featuring a sleek silhouette with more attractive curves and beautiful proportions that maximize a sharp image.

Based on the evolved concept of 'Pure flow, Refined,' Ioniq 6 focuses on connecting the body flow more precisely and naturally.

To achieve this, Hyundai Motor raised the starting point of the front hood and improved the existing hood into a shark-nose-shaped long hood reminiscent of a shark’s snout. This creates an impression of cutting through the air while running. The protruding spoiler was removed, and the ducktail spoiler was extended to maintain aerodynamic performance while completing a sleek side contour.

The newly revealed Ioniq 6 N Line inherits the design DNA of the rolling lab 'RN22e' unveiled in 2022, adding a sporty feel. The bumper design with garnish resembling wings transforms the Ioniq 6 N Line’s impression to be sporty and aggressive, while the emphasized side sill, wrapped around the lower body with a single line, visually lowers the stance.

Hyundai Motor also revealed the actual model of Instroid, which was introduced on the 1st. Instroid is a concept car created by Hyundai Motor’s European Design Center and a small electric SUV leading Hyundai Motor’s electrification transition. Based on the Instar (domestic name Casper Electric), it is a project model reflecting a unique design inspired by games and various fun elements.
