According to the National Election Commission on the 3rd, as of 12:42 a.m. with a vote count rate of 99.98%, candidate Oh secured 66,034 votes (57.52%), significantly surpassing Jeon Man-kwon of the People Power Party, who came in second with 45,831 votes (39.92%).

Jo Deok-ho of the New Future Democratic Party received 1,897 votes (1.65%), and Kim Kwang-man of the Liberty Unification Party garnered 1,037 votes (0.90%).

Candidate Oh graduated from Cheonan Jungang High School and Kyung Hee University with a degree in Political Science and Diplomacy. He entered public service through the local civil service exam (2nd attempt). He served as Policy Planning Officer and Director of Welfare and Health Bureau in Chungnam Province, Deputy Mayor of Asan, and was the mayor of Asan during the 7th local government term.

Although he lost to former mayor Park Kyung-gwi of the People Power Party in the 2022 local elections, he has returned to the mayoral office after three years.

The by-election for the mayor of Asan was held after former mayor Park was disqualified in October last year due to a confirmed sentence for violating the Public Official Election Act (spreading false information) during the 2022 local elections. At that time, the victim of the false information spread was candidate Oh.
