The 'Regional Culture and Arts Convergence Council' consists of about 20 regional experts active in various fields such as exhibitions, performances, literature, philosophy, humanities, tourism, economy, architecture, and media, and regularly discusses current issues in regional culture and arts. Marking its 10th anniversary this year, ACC is prioritizing the creation of a regional culture and arts ecosystem. It plans to open ACC spaces to regional cultural artists and provide opportunities for content creation and production, actively supporting the development of distinctive content utilizing unique regional cultural assets.
Accordingly, ACC will introduce an allocation system for regional artists in the creation and production of performances and exhibitions. This system guarantees that a certain percentage of regional artists participate in ACC’s performances, exhibitions, residencies, education, and rental projects.
The 'Special Exhibition for Regional Artists' is a project that supports budgets for content creation and production as well as exhibition venues for emerging and young cultural artists active in the region. To help these artists grow into core ACC content, capable artists will be selected and support methods decided through the 'ACC-Regional Cooperation Meeting.' Opinions on the 'relocation of the Seoul Arts Troupe,' which is being promoted for the growth of regional culture and arts, will also be heard.
Furthermore, discussions will be held on producing content utilizing ACC’s architectural features and idle spaces, opening less frequented spaces on weekdays as venues for content demonstrations, and cooperating with festival organizations to elevate regional festivals to world-class events.
Kim Sang-wook, Acting Director of ACC, said, "Thanks to the full support and encouragement of the region, ACC’s 10 years have sailed smoothly," adding, "Now, ACC will contribute to the local community through full support and active communication to revitalize regional culture and arts." He continued, "The unique cultural assets of the region have proven their potential for globalization through the Nobel Prize awarded to author Han Kang," and added, "ACC will cooperate with and spare no support for the regional culture and arts field so that a second Han Kang can emerge."
