The 'QS World University Rankings by Subject' is an authoritative university ranking system that comprehensively evaluates universities worldwide based on five indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, H-index (an indicator measuring the productivity and impact of individual researchers' publications), and international research collaboration.

This year, a total of 5,203 universities around the world were evaluated.

It is a rare achievement for a domestic university to be ranked within the QS global top 100 in the field of Library and Information Management.

The Department of Library and Information Science at Pusan National University was selected within the 'Global Top 100' in this evaluation, ranking joint third overall among domestic universities and first among national universities, thereby gaining international recognition for its research capabilities and educational standards.

Established in 1984, the Department of Library and Information Science at Pusan National University has operated a multidisciplinary curriculum for over 40 years, nurturing librarians and teacher-librarians, records management specialists, and various information professionals for the library field. The department also strives to foster practical talent through collaboration with major research institutions and companies both domestically and internationally.

In particular, this world university ranking is evaluated as the result of continuous efforts to strengthen international competitiveness, not only through the outstanding research achievements and teaching capabilities of the faculty but also through graduate research and support for overseas academic activities via the BK21 FOUR Educational Research Group, which is uniquely operated by Pusan National University in this field in Korea, as well as the department's overseas dispatch programs.
