Mangpo to Banggyo, Byeongjeom to Dongtan to Be Built First
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province is introducing the 'Fast Track' method, which simultaneously carries out design and construction, to expedite the 'Dongtan Urban Railway (Dongtan Tram)' project. Through this, the city plans to commence construction in the second half of this year.

According to Hwaseong City on the 2nd, the city has pre-disclosed key bidding information for the first phase of the Dongtan Tram construction project on the Public Procurement Service's Nara Market. The city plans to keep the information public until the 8th and then proceed with the bidding announcement through the Public Procurement Service.
This order was made after requesting a contract with the Public Procurement Service following the approval of the project's basic plan change in December last year, and after reviews of the bidding method, contract, and bidding guidelines.
According to the preliminary information, the bidding for the first phase of the Dongtan Tram construction will be conducted through a 'basic design technical proposal bidding' method. Additionally, to shorten the overall project period, the Fast Track method, which carries out detailed design and construction simultaneously, will be introduced.
A city official stated, "We adopted the technical proposal bidding method because it is suitable for large-scale complex projects such as railway projects and has the advantage of shortening the construction period," adding, "Especially with the introduction of Fast Track, the construction period can be significantly advanced compared to the existing method."
The Dongtan Tram consists of two lines connecting major areas of Hwaseong City, including Dongtan New Town, to Suwon and Osan. Line 1 connects Mangpo Station to Osan Station. The total length is 16.58 km, starting from Mangpo Station, which is a transfer station for the Suin-Bundang Line, passing through Dongtan Station and Dongtan New Town, and extending to Osan Station. Line 2 branches from Byeongjeom Station and connects major areas of Dongtan 2 New Town, spanning 17.82 km.
Among these, the first phase of construction scheduled for bidding this time covers the routes ▲Mangpo Station-Dongtan Station-Banggyo-dong ▲Byeongjeom Station-Dongtan Station-Vehicle Depot. The total length is 31.55 km. The city expects that with the technical proposal bidding and Fast Track method, construction can begin on priority sections as early as the second half of the year.
Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "We will advance the era of railways that will practically change the lives of citizens through prompt commencement of construction."
