Kim Younggyu, a six-term member of the Yeosu City Council, stated, "I am fully committed to legislative activities to ensure the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, as well as the development of Yeosu National Industrial Complex, Yeosu tourism, balanced urban growth, and the creation of a safe city."

In an interview with the media on the 1st, Kim said, "Yeosu is a leading marine tourism and industrial city representing Korea."

He explained, "There are still many challenges to address, so I am working together with citizens based on my extensive legislative experience to bring about real change. To make administrative audits, which are a core responsibility of city council members, more transparent and effective, I have introduced new methods."

Kim emphasized, "Unlike the previous administrative audits that were often conducted in a perfunctory manner, I have established procedures to actively reflect citizens' opinions, such as directly receiving citizen reports and holding press briefings. Through this, I have expanded opportunities for citizens to participate in city administration and have strived to conduct more effective audits."

He continued, "One of the most notable achievements is the confirmation of the Geumodo Marine Bridge Project. I have continuously led policy support and negotiations for the project, and ultimately achieved the confirmation of the marine bridge plan."

He added, "With the completion of this project, the living environment of island residents has been dramatically improved, and it is expected to greatly contribute to the revitalization of the tourism industry."

Kim stated, "I take pride in having always prioritized citizens in my legislative activities," and pledged, "I will continue to do my utmost for the sustainable development of Yeosu."

Meanwhile, Kim has devoted himself to the development of Yeosu during his six terms, including serving as the chairman of the Yeosu City Council in the first half. As a result, he has been recognized for his achievements, including receiving the 'Contribution Award for the Advancement of Metropolitan Council Legislation.'
