Lotte Shopping Ranks First in Parental Leave Usage
SK Ecoplant Records Only 1.2% Usage Rate
Last year, the number of parental leave users at Samsung Electronics approached 5,000.
According to CEO Score, a corporate data research institute, a survey was conducted on the number of parental leave users and usage rates among 83 companies that disclosed parental support systems out of the top 100 companies by sales. Samsung Electronics ranked first with 4,892 parental leave users last year.
Following Samsung Electronics were Industrial Bank of Korea (1,391), LG Display (1,299), Korea Electric Power Corporation (1,004), Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (758), SK Hynix (756), Hyundai Motor Company (639), Kookmin Bank (562), Korean Air (547), and LG Electronics (534).
The company with the fewest parental leave users last year was Doosan Bobcat, with only 5 users. In 2022, there was 1 user, and in 2023, 3 users. SK Incheon Petrochem (6), POSCO International (10), SK Geocentric (11), and Hyundai Wia (13) followed with low numbers.
Samsung Electronics also saw the largest increase in parental leave users compared to the previous year, with an increase of 422 users. Next were KEPCO (280↑), CJ CheilJedang (86↑), Woori Bank (75↑), LG Energy Solution (71↑), KHNP (52↑), Hyundai Construction (33↑), CJ Logistics (32↑), Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance (31↑), and SK On (27↑).
Among the surveyed companies, Lotte Shopping had the highest parental leave usage rate last year. Lotte Shopping's usage rate was over 80% for three consecutive years: 80.0% in 2022, 82.0% in 2023, and 80.0% in 2024. Following were Hankook Tire & Technology (77.3%), Standard Chartered Bank Korea (72.9%), Industrial Bank of Korea (64.5%), SK Networks (61.0%), Samsung Life Insurance (59.8%), Hana Bank (59.6%), Woori Bank (53.2%), Shinhan Bank (52.8%), and Hanwha Life Insurance (50.8%).
On the other hand, SK Ecoplant had the lowest parental leave usage rate. SK Ecoplant's usage rate was in the single digits for three consecutive years: 1.0% in 2022, 1.0% in 2023, and 1.2% in 2024. Hanon Systems (4.2%), Hyundai Construction (6.7%), Hyundai Engineering (7.0%), POSCO E&C (7.6%), Hanwha Aerospace (8.9%), and S-Oil (9.8%) also had low parental leave usage rates.
