Songpa-gu Operates Forest Prenatal Education Classes for Pregnant Women

Outdoor Sensory and Craft Experience for Pregnant Women at Olympic Park in April and May
Four Sessions, Each Lasting Three Hours... 15 Participants Selected on a First-Come, First-Served Basis via Seoul Pregnancy and Childbirth Information Center

Songpa-gu Operates Forest Prenatal Education Classes for Pregnant Women

To welcome spring, the Songpa-gu Health Center (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it will operate a forest prenatal education class for 15 pregnant women in their 16th to 20th weeks of pregnancy.

The forest prenatal education class, "GOLD Mom, GOLD Time: The Beginning of Life," is a program prepared through collaboration between Songpa-gu and Pulbit Cultural Solidarity, an organization under the Korea Forest Service, to promote emotional stability and healthy childbirth for pregnant women. It will be held a total of four times from April 14 to May 12 at Olympic Park, a representative green space in Seoul.

Participants will engage in various physical activities and craft experiences under the warm spring sun. Along with light walks, they will open their five senses through scent, sound, color, crafts, meditation, and prenatal talks, and enjoy peaceful healing time by making eco-friendly childcare and daily necessities.

The program content varies by session. Under the guidance of professional instructors, the first session focuses on scent and color prenatal education, the second on sound prenatal education, the third on craft prenatal education, and the fourth on meditation and prenatal talks.

The district designed the program carefully to ensure it does not strain the pregnant women’s bodies, considering that the outdoor classes run for about three hours from 1:30 p.m. Break times and snacks are provided separately, and all participants are covered by accident liability insurance to ease concerns.

Those wishing to participate can apply online through the Seoul Pregnancy and Childbirth Information Center website. There is no separate participation fee, including material costs, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Detailed schedules and other information can also be found on the website.

In addition, the district is making efforts to create a birth-friendly social atmosphere. It systematically operates the public postpartum care center, the first of its kind established in Seoul, and leads comprehensive support covering pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare through infertility counseling rooms, prenatal education classes, and baby care classes.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “Songpa-gu has the highest number of births and child population among Seoul’s districts. We will continue to strive to discover unique public services to provide an environment that is good for having and raising children.”
