100,000 Azaleas in Full Bloom at Bulamsan Healing Town from the 15th to the 27th...
Nowon's Signature Healing Experience All in One Place!
A Harmony of Nature and Culture with Flowers, Butterflies, Books, and Performances
Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold the '2025 Bulamsan Healing Town Azalea Festival' (hereinafter referred to as the Azalea Festival) from the 15th to the 27th, timed to coincide with the blooming period of azaleas.
Since creating the ‘Azalea Hill’ in Bulamsan Healing Town (hereinafter Healing Town), this year marks the 4th Azalea Festival, which is the earliest spring festival among the five major festivals representing Nowon. Last year, the 3rd festival recorded over 230,000 visitors over 13 days, receiving great response. Notably, an average of 10,000 visitors per day on weekdays demonstrated that the Azalea Festival has firmly taken root in the local community.
The district is making thorough preparations for the successful hosting of this year’s Azalea Festival as well. This year, the plan is to transform it into a ‘stay-type’ festival where visitors can fully enjoy spending half a day. To this end, the festival features ▲landscape installations throughout Healing Town with a fairy tale theme, various ▲special experience programs, ▲cultural performances during the festival period, and ▲Healing Market (flea market) and food trucks.
First, the festival atmosphere will be enhanced throughout Healing Town with ▲sculptures and decorations. From the entrance of Healing Town, colorful sunshades and sky umbrella decorations at the entrance of the Forest Healing Center serve both to improve the scenery and to shield visitors from the harsh sunlight. Considering the wide spread of the event site and program booths, a highly visible comprehensive guide map will be placed to assist visitors’ convenience. This improvement was made from the visitors’ perspective based on shortcomings identified during last year’s festival operation.
Various leisure facilities in Healing Town will also present special programs. Each facility such as the Butterfly Garden, Garden Support Center, and Forest Healing Center offers easy-to-experience events where visitors can feel and interact with nature. Cafe Forest (4rest), where visitors can relax while overlooking Bulamsan and Healing Town, will sell special drinks and desserts limited to the Azalea Festival season.
The most carefully prepared feature is the outdoor library installed in various locations. ‘Chaekswimteo Banggeut’ located in Healing Town is decorated with Little Prince-themed sculptures, a book resting area, and shade shelters, and hosts book curation and picture book reading events. Additionally, the Cafe Forest lawn, the stream in the children’s forest experience area, and the newly opened picnic area from last year will also transform into outdoor libraries.
Cultural performances, shopping, and food are also abundant. A main stage will be set up at the Healing Shelter in front of Azalea Hill, where performances will be held every weekend during the period. Scheduled events include the opening performance ‘Butterfly Release’ on the 19th, circus, bubble show, Kim Deok-su’s Samulnori, and the festival will conclude on the 27th with a joint performance by an orchestra, Poppin Hyun-jun, and Park Ae-ri.
Busking performances including popera, acoustic, and brass bands are planned at Healing Garden, Healing Shelter, and the picnic area, allowing visitors to enjoy the lively atmosphere throughout Healing Town.
Food trucks will operate three on weekdays and five on weekends, and 22 Healing Markets will sell daily necessities and handicrafts. Notably, local small business owners, social enterprises, youth shops, and self-support enterprises participate in the market, adding significance by creating opportunities for them to coexist with the local cultural festival.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “With flowers blooming more fully than last year and programs richer than before, we will offer a perfect day at the foot of Bulamsan,” adding, “I hope the Azalea Festival fills the hearts of residents with the spirit of spring.”
