Faculty Members to Operate the Vehicle in the Initial Stage of Transportation
Namseoul University announced on the 1st that students from the Smart Farm Department delivered vegetables grown in their practice farm to the student cafeteria using an autonomous vehicle.
This event was jointly organized by the Namseoul University Global Smart Farm Project Group and the electric vehicle autonomous mobility company Drivetec Co., Ltd., to showcase the potential convergence of smart farm technology and next-generation transportation methods.
In the initial stage of transportation, faculty members will operate the vehicle themselves, considering student safety, and later, students will activate the autonomous driving mode and handle deliveries directly.
Kim Younghwa, head of the Global Smart Farm Project Group, stated, "We hope this will be an opportunity for students to experience advanced smart farm and autonomous mobility technologies firsthand, increasing their interest and understanding of future convergence industries."
Meanwhile, the autonomous electric vehicle used for transportation was named 'AutoFarm' through an idea contest among members.
