Kim Ki-hyun, Yoon Sang-hyun, Cho Jeong-hoon, and 12 Others from Culture and Education Sectors Join
Lawyer Shin Pyeong Shares Details on Facebook
"Describing the Process of Social Reform and Civic Revolution... Granting Historical Legitimacy"
The side of President Yoon Seok-yeol announced the publication of the book titled 'Beyond the 87 System, a New Republic of Korea,' which includes the legitimacy of the December 3 emergency martial law, ahead of the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial ruling.
Shin Pyeong, a lawyer who supports President Yoon, posted on Facebook on the 1st, saying, "'A New Republic of Korea' book will be released soon," and added, "Reservations will be available from April 10 at the latest."
Additionally, it was explained that 12 people joined forces to create the book, including lawmakers Kim Ki-hyun, Na Kyung-won, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Cho Jeong-hoon of the People Power Party, former spokesperson Baek Ji-won, constitutional law scholars Professor Lee In-ho of Chung-Ang University and Professor Shim Gyu-jin of Spain's IE University, lawyers Shin Pyeong and Do Tae-woo, writer Bok Geo-il from the cultural sector, and history lecturer Jeon Han-gil from the education sector, along with President Yoon.
Lawyer Shin pointed out, "The '87 system' established 40 years ago gradually became an outdated system, and the 'progressive aristocracy' turned into vested interests, exuding the stench of corruption."
He criticized, "They never shed their anachronistic stance of being pro-China and pro-North Korea, prioritizing ideology over reality, which led them to exhibit totalitarian tendencies." He further argued, "If this 87 faction not only overwhelmingly dominates the legislature but also seizes executive power, it is clear that they will wield strong police power and reign over the people in a fascist political form."
Lawyer Shin voiced that President Yoon resisted those who had gained formidable control over the media, culture, and labor sectors through the December 3 emergency martial law. He continued, "Then, young people massively participated in anti-impeachment rallies, signaling a tremendous transformation of the era," and stated, "This social reform movement gradually grew into a civic revolution, and the value order it pursues is exactly what President Yoon sought through the 'December 3 emergency martial law.'"
Shin explained about the book, "'A New Republic of Korea' describes this great social reform and civic revolution process while granting it historical legitimacy."
The book includes the full text of President Yoon's final argument at the Constitutional Court. Regarding President Yoon being listed as the author, a ruling party official said, "It only contains the president's final argument in the impeachment trial, and as far as we know, the president was not directly involved."
