The association unanimously decided to donate the funds during its monthly meeting held in March. The donation will be used for recovery efforts and support for wildfire victims in the affected areas through the Community Chest of Korea.
Kim Myungsoo, the association's representative chairperson (Chairperson of Gwangsan District Council), said, "I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the wildfire victims who have suffered great losses due to this unexpected disaster," and added, "I hope the affected areas will be restored as soon as possible so that everyone can return to their peaceful daily lives."
The Autonomous District Council Chairpersons' Association holds monthly meetings to discuss the operation of local councils and policy cooperation, and serves as a platform for joint response to local community issues.
