Civil groups in Gwangju have called for the Constitutional Court to rule for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol and to punish those who supported the December 3 martial law.
The Gwangju Emergency Action for the Immediate Resignation of the Yoon Suk-yeol Regime and Social Reform held a press conference on the afternoon of the 1st at the May 18 Democratic Square in Dong-gu, Gwangju, stating, "The Constitutional Court should not hesitate and must rule for the impeachment of President Yoon according to the Constitution and the will of the people."
They emphasized, "The Constitutional Court has failed to faithfully fulfill the duties entrusted to it by the people," and added, "It has already been 120 days since the illegal December 3 martial law. The situation has come to this point because the Constitutional Court justices have ignored the people's wishes."
They continued, "The National Assembly must immediately impeach Han Duck-soo and Choi Sang-mok, who have blatantly violated the Constitution and obstructed the suppression of the rebellion," and said, "Judge Ji Guyoun, who released the ringleader of the rebellion, President Yoon, and Prosecutor General Shim Woojeong must also be impeached immediately to be held accountable for their complicity in the rebellion."
