Senior Secretary Meeting Presided Over by Chief Secretary Jeong Jin-seok
The Presidential Office stated on the 1st that regarding the designation of the impeachment trial verdict date for President Yoon Seok-yeol as the 4th, "We will calmly await the Constitutional Court's decision, as per our existing stance."
The Constitutional Court announced that it will deliver the verdict on President Yoon's impeachment trial at 11 a.m. on the 4th in the Constitutional Court's Grand Bench. The impeachment trial verdict comes 111 days after President Yoon was impeached on December 14 of last year.
If the Constitutional Court upholds the impeachment, President Yoon will be removed from office. If the impeachment is dismissed or rejected, he will immediately return to his duties. A removal decision requires the approval of at least six of the eight sitting justices.
Additionally, the Presidential Office held a Senior Secretary meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Jeong Jin-seok on the same day. A Presidential Office official explained, "At the meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, a report on the March export-import trends (exports increased by 3.1% compared to the same month last year) was given, along with discussions on key points and issues related to the U.S. Trade Representative's 'Trade Barriers Report.'"
They added, "The Presidential Office plans to work with relevant ministries to examine the issues raised in the report and their impact on industries, and to devise response measures."
