Daegu Dong-gu to Spend 1 Billion KRW to Redevelop 53-Year-Old Mangudang Park... Observatory and Plaza to Be Built Perspective View of Manguedang Park Redevelopment Project

Mangudang Park was established in 1972 to honor the achievements of General Gwak Jaewoo, who was the first to raise a volunteer army during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592. However, the facilities have become outdated, and its utilization has gradually decreased.

In response, the Dong-gu District Office will redevelop Mangudang Park by improving facilities such as constructing an observatory that maximizes the riverside scenery of the Geumho River, demolishing illegal buildings within the park grounds, and creating a plaza. By making the most of the riverside landscape, the park is expected to be reborn as a representative park of the region.

Yoon Seokjun, head of the Dong-gu District Office of Daegu, said, "As we proceed with the Mangudang Park redevelopment project in stages, we will prioritize reflecting the opinions of local residents and do our utmost to create a pleasant and beautiful urban park environment."
