Joint Efforts to Practice ESG Management
Commitment to Promoting ESG Joint Projects and Realizing Environmental and Social Values,
Including Plastic Reduction
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) launched the 'Busan City Public Institutions-Civic Organizations ESG Council' and signed a business agreement at its headquarters on the 31st of last month, together with public institutions, public corporations, and civic groups under the jurisdiction of Busan City.
This council is a public-private partnership aimed at building a sustainable Busan. It brings together five public institutions?Busan Transportation Corporation, Busan Urban Corporation, Busan Tourism Organization, Busan Facilities Corporation, and Busan Environmental Corporation?and five civic organizations?Busan Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice, Busan Federation for Environmental Movement, Busan YMCA, Busan YWCA, and Busan Green Trust. A total of ten organizations will jointly respond and discuss cooperation measures to promote ESG culture, reduce plastic use, and realize environmental and social values in the local community.
At the signing ceremony, representatives and officials from the participating organizations attended, formalizing the launch of the council with a business agreement and sharing key directions for future initiatives. After the ceremony, in-depth discussions were held on collaborative measures to practice ESG management, such as reducing plastic, achieving carbon neutrality, and spreading social value.
According to the agreement, the participating organizations will work together organically on specific action tasks, including discovering and promoting joint projects to reduce plastic and mutually cooperating to spread ESG culture.
Cho Yongun, Co-Representative of the Busan Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice, emphasized, "Reducing plastic and achieving carbon neutrality must be accompanied by real action, not just declarations. This council marks the starting point for public-private cooperation in practicing ESG management, and I hope we can jointly discover and promote innovative projects for ESG practice beyond those proposed today."
Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, stated, "This agreement is a meaningful first step for public institutions and civil society to build a sustainable Busan together. Based on the operation of eco-friendly public transportation, Busan Transportation Corporation will take the lead in ESG management and ensure the successful implementation of the ESG council's projects."
