Perpetrator Teacher Submits Statement of Remorse Admitting Wrongdoing
Police to Summon for Questioning This Week
A male teacher at a middle school in Cheongju, Chungbuk, has been accused of forcing two middle school students from the Okcheon area into his car and threatening them by taking them to a mountain after allegedly sexually harassing his girlfriend, who is a teacher at another middle school. It has been confirmed that the teacher admitted to his wrongdoing overall during an investigation by the education authorities.
According to the Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education on the 31st, Teacher A acknowledged his fault and submitted a written statement of remorse to the school as soon as the investigation by the education office began following the incident.
After receiving the written statement, the police plan to summon Teacher A for questioning this week and will send him to prosecution without detention on charges of violating the Child Welfare Act as soon as possible. The education office, which recently suspended Teacher A from his position, intends to take disciplinary action if he is found guilty in court.
Teacher A is accused of picking up students B and C, who attend a middle school in Okcheon, one after another in his car on the evening of the 13th of last month around 6 p.m., driving them around while verbally abusing them with threats such as "I will kill you." Teacher A is dating the homeroom teacher of the two students.
Student B’s parent claimed on the 14th of last month, "Teacher A picked up my son and C, who were at a snack bar on their way home from school, and drove them around for about 30 minutes, harshly demanding to know why they made sexual remarks about his girlfriend." The parent also alleged that Teacher A took them to a secluded mountain, forced them to hold a large poster that read "I am a sex offender," and tried to take photos against their will.
The parent said that during this process, Teacher A also threatened the two students with statements like "I will kill you" and "I will tell people around you so your family won’t be able to show their faces." Student B’s parent added, "Teacher A dropped the two students off in a nearby open field after about an hour and left. After hearing this from my child, I immediately reported it to the police."
